Fighter

Gabe is truly a brother to me.  I have had so many great friends, people I consider my “best friends” and they are.  I always felt a special bond with Gabe.  We shared so many common interests and had so many great conversations which I will share later.

I remember we were on a trip to VT (which he loved) with a fairly large group of his “CT” friends.  He always loved skiing which he did with several friends of ours on that trip and we always went snowmobiling which we all had such a great time.

This was the first time I heard him with a raspy cough which I told him I was concerned about and that he should get it checked out.  He did shortly after which is when he got his initial prognosis.

I remember vividly him calling me and telling me what the doctor told him.  He was strong, scared,  yet confident.  I was sure this was just a small blip.

He would come and stay with me days at a time as his treatments were in NYC, and I would take him back and forth to the train station.

Winery in CT

This picture was from one of his last trips to “CT”.  We enjoyed a nice trip to a winery where we laughed, talked and hugged.

That hat was left behind at that winery -on a hat rack and we all thought it was a hat he’d like.

Haha, and he put it on.  Seemed to fit him well.

Everything was great this day.  I never thought Gabe was “in trouble” until it was too late.  I always thought everything was “fine”.

Oh what I would do to just hear my friend Gabe’s voice one more time.  I have in dreams, which I love, but it’s just not the same.
